Well, I tried to edit with Tibed for emperor and didn't suffer any side effects so far. The only thing other than removing the changes is to reinstall the game. Something really bad must have happen if your game keeps crashing. It least the rules will be rewritten and all should be well.
And by the way... was the last battle for the atreides side freaking hard or what? Guess there had to be challenge for gameplay. I just about quit playing the game there.
