The voxel editor is... tricky. Try looking for Will's voxel editor, which is actually v1 of the Voxel Editor II (source to v1 was lost and v2 built from ground up, still lacking in things). It has a guide inside and some basic info about voxels. I believe you can find it on http://xccu.sf.net under Third party downloads.
